Being a watchmaker of some 40 years standing and a member of "The British Watch & Clockmakers Guild", I have over the years restored watches for clients around the globe, from places as far a field as Australia, USA, Israel, Canada, Belgium, South Africa etc, and of course many from home here in the UK. Apart from general servicing; repairs and restorations come in the form of customers collections, personal watches, keepsakes, and watches of sentimental value.
Some time ago The Royal Navy were celebrating the anniversary of Shackleton's famous expedition to the south pole by repeating the trek using the same equipment as the original expedition.
I was approached and given the opportunity to prepare a period pocket watch that would function in the extreme conditions of the Antarctic. Fortunately the trek proved a great success, as did the watch.
